About Nutrition Essence

Nutrition services from Monique Palmer

I grew up in NZ where I learnt early about the benefits of a fresh diet alongside outdoor exercise. This combined with a desire to help others, spurred on after seeing people, often those close to me with preventable diseases. This led to studies in nutrition, exercise science and a masters in health psychology. My move to the UK enabled me to create health recommendations for both clients and organisations through a combination of these disciplines.

Further studies in nutritional therapy and an interest in eastern dietary therapies grounded in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine has helped enhance my unique approach. Trips to India to learn about food, cooking with herbs and spices under the supervision of ayurvedic doctors has helped my understanding of more natural methods of healing that also require insight into ones personality. This approach has also combined well with my interest in healthier cooking.

Naturally I love food, and have experimented with different cuisines and approaches to following a ‘healthy diet’. Be it vegetarian, high protein... I have probably dabbled in it, without actually suffering from conditions that needed improvement. I may have been lucky but I have had to dig deep to decide why it is important to eat well and asses how certain foods make me feel or function. These insights have not only kept me well but have given me a great appreciation for my health.

I am also the co author of a creative fun children’s book about food which helps to bring all these insights to a new and vital audience.

I continue to explore every avenue to health and well being.
